An Avatar is a picture that represents you.  The easiest way to set your Avatar is to use a web-based system called Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar.)  If you have connected a picture to your email address using http://www.Gravatar.com, it will show up here automatically.

To upload a specific picture to use as your Avatar in these forums, you need to edit your Profile.  You should see a button for your Profile in the upper right of this screen:

To have that picture show up in these forums, you need to edit your profile:

Forum Profile

There are many options you can set, including your facebook and twitter identity, your signature, and your forum options like automatically subscribing to topices you view.  You will see an option for Avatar and a place to upload a picture here.

I used picasa to edit my avatar (crop) then I used Photoshop to resize the photo to 50 pixels wide. (Picasa would only reduce the photo to 320 pixels).

The photo is of myself ( Terry) and my wife ( Teri) taken at Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada on August 18th of this year.

I then used the browse function to find this photo on my hard drive. I hope it looks OK

Regards,

Terry and Teri ( TnT)

Hey Terry!

Good Job!  It looks great.

Just a comment = in Picasa, you *can* type in 50 in the pixels field.  It's true that the slider stops at 320, but you can type in any number you want.

I'd sure love to visit Banff and Jasper again someday.
