I was trying to add music from my itunes library to a slideshow in Picasa.  It didn't work.  I discovered the file needed to by a MP3 file and the iTunes file was an AAC audio file.  Google search to the rescue.

This is how I converted an AAC audio file .m4a to a MPEG audio file .mp3

Open iTunes.  Edit. Preferences.  Click the General button.  Click Import Settings.  "Import Using" change to MP3 Encoder.

Click OK.  Go back to iTunes.  Right click on the song you want to convert. Click on Create MP3 Version.  Now that song is in your iTunes library twice.

Now which is which?  Right click on your song in iTunes.  Click on Get Info.  One of the songs is an AAC audio file and the new one you just created is a MPEG audio file .mp3

You can use the one that is now an mp3 file to add music to your slideshow.

If this is already in the forum, sorry I missed it.

Bill,  Thanks for the tip.  I use Pro Show Producer to make slide shows of our travels.  It is really anoying when I have a song I want to use and can't use it because it is AAC.  I've been downloading the AAC tune to a rewritable CD and then have to upload the song directly into Pro Show.  It is a bit of a pain.

I'm going to try your suggestion.  Hope I can id the mp3 file when I move the song into my slideshow.

Hi Barbara,

Music does MAKE a slideshow.  At least you had a way of doing it.  Kudos to you for that.  It's my hope that it's now a little less of a pain for you.

Bill,  I'm a little late thanking you for this iTunes tip.  I just happened to run this post again.  You system works great and now I can keep all my music in iTunes and have an easy way of using my songs in my ProShow Producer slide shows.
