I have been to the web site and downloaded Google Earth, but when I go to install it, it says it was installed. I can not find it on my computer. I have done a search in the search box and nothing comes up. The "Google Earth Setup" file is in my download folder. I have even gone to it and tried clicking on it to install. Still tells me it was installed, but I can not find it.
Am I missing a step or something? Maybe a setting I have to change? I have not had this problem before.
Alicia,
I hear ya – on my computer, I can't find Google Earth as an icon on my desktop, nor as a listing on my start menu: All Programs.
But, if I type Earth into the start search box, it does come up on the list. Then I right-clicked and selected Pin to Start menu. Now it's there when I click start.
Just search for Earth, not Google Earth. Hope that helps.
Chris, thanks for the reply. I just tried search with "earth" and still no listing…………..I did get "Earth Angle" LOL
It is a good thing I still have Google Earth on my old lap top, I used it the other day. I would like to get it on this one. I have windows 7 and I am using Google Chrome. Maybe I should try using Internet Explorer, will that make any difference? After 4 attempts, maybe I am not suppose to have it. LOL
By the way, used the "Streets and Trips" I picked up at rally in Madison. I used it to route our trip back to Texas. Did first day today and it went great. I have a hubby who does not read maps, do anything with computers or GPS's so having all the trip printed up is great, Just ask him to follow along and read me directions while I drive.
Alicia,
There may be an issue in the registry in your computer where information about the program is stored. The installation process did not write everything it should. Just a guess.
The full path to the Google Earth program on my computer is: C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth\client\googleearth.exe
Creating a shortcut to the executable is easy once you find the file. Right-click on the file and choose send to > desktop (create shortcut.) Then you can pin it to the start menu as Chris suggested.
