OfflineUpdate on above: The lock was removed by right clicking on the pictures, selecting Share with: Home Group – read/write.
The two folders still do not show in Picasa, however when the folder manager is opened they are both there and marked scan always. Suggestions.
Another question: When a folder, on the left side of the screen, is highlighted there appears to be an up arrow to the far right – what is the arrow for?
Thanks
jdb
Good Job! Right-click is our friend … it shows the available options even if we don't know what's going on.
hmmm – that sounds to me though like the photos aren't on the same computer as Picasa (since they're shared thru the home group network)? If the folder shows in Picasa's folder manager, and it's marked scan always, the pictures should be showing up! Unless they really are on another device and that device is not currently connected.
an up arrow to the far right? Does this appear on every folder? Is it a fat green arrow? The fat green arrow means that there are pictures in that folder that have been uploaded to the web.
Aha! I know what arrow you mean now. Here's a screenshot (click it to enlarge) … you're talking about the black arrow pointing up.
First of all, this arrow is only visible when you're in Tree Folder view.
It's purpose is to focus your attention on one folder – all it does is to limit your library view to the selected folder. So you can scroll up and down in the library and not be viewing some other folder. It's simply a way to 'put blinders on' so you don't get distracted by the rest of your thousands of pictures!
You can get your library view back to normal by simply clicking on another folder in the left … or click on Flat Folder view.
I don't use that arrow very often, but once in a while it comes in very handy.
If you don't understand Flat view vs. Tree view, you may want to review this tutorial video:
