I played creating this blog for over a week. Tried to add more about Kathy and I, but it wouldn't happen. Out of frustration I posted it as our first blog, even added a few pictures. Once I published it to the web, the only place you can read it, is on our dashboard.

We have searched and searched to no avail. We've repeated the search, but nothing.

If we can't find it,how can anyone else?

Where or how can we make this blog readable?

You say that you 'published' the blog post … then, did you view your blog with the button 'View Blog'?

If so, you're seeing it just how anyone else on the web would see it.  If you look in the address bar of your web browser – you will see the address of your blog, it may or may not start with http://www.  but it will definitely end with .blogspot.com

That's how you tell people to view your blog.  For example to see my blog click in the address bar of a web browser and type http://www.geeksontour.blogspot.com

I think what you're asking is will a google search turn up your blog?  The answer is – maybe … someday.  It takes a while for Google's search engines to get the word that a new blog is made, and even then it will probably not be in the first page of search results.

Does that help?

btw = thanks for posting in the forum!

We have both tried using the URL; http://ricknkathyrousseau.blogspot.com/ all this to no avail. We have searched for hours on end, countless pages of sites, unsuccessfully to find it.

If we do find it how could we move it to a domain such as Hitchitch so our family and friends can find it?

Hey Richard,
I don't understand what you're doing different than me. I just clicked on the link you typed in your post and it takes me straight to a blog.
Looks good too!
Here's the URL I used: http://ricknkathyrousseau.blogspot.com/
The banner picture is of an Avalanche fifth wheel?
Good job.

When we search for your blog, I go to MSN and type in Geeks on tour. I have tried that repeatedly, without success as I did after your response to find our blog. The only way I found it was typing the URL in the upper address bar. Why can't we find it by the name of the blog?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking but, let's see if this helps.

Your web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox etc.) is like your taxi around the Internet.  Using the Browser let's you travel around the Internet … to 'Browse.'

  1. If you get in a taxi and give the driver an address – like 2386 W Main St – the taxi driver can definitely get you there.
  2. But, if you get in and say 'please find me XYZ grocery store' you'll only be successful if the driver is very familiar with the area – and he's only going to know about stores that have been around a while and other passengers have gone to.
  3. And, if you say, 'take me to Sue Adam's house' – forget about it!  The taxi driver will have no idea.

Those 3 examples translate to web browsers:

  1. Entering the specific URL into the browser's address bar is like asking the taxi driver to take you to a specific address. – It's always going to work.
  2. Entering a business name (Geeks On Tour) is like asking for the Walmart … odds are pretty good, depending on how popular the website is and how long it's been in existence.  The search engines (google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.) are constantly searching the web and finding sites by name and type of site and content.
  3. Asking for a new blog by typing in 'It's about time' or 'Rick and Kathy Rousseau' is like asking a taxi driver to take you to Sue Adam's house (and she just moved in!) – the taxi driver has never heard of Sue.  Google or MSN will never know where 'Rick and Kathy's blog' is unless it  has been around for a while, gains some popularity, and has substantial content.

Maybe you've heard of businesses hiring an expert to get their website on the top of the search engine results?

Typing the URL into the address bar is exactly how you're supposed to get to websites.  You print that URL on your business cards, add it to your email signature – that's how your friends find it.  Only if you don't know the URL for the website you want to visit do you use search.

Have you watched this video on web browsing basics?

Now we better understand the address information part of finding the blogs. Much more to learn, but a little at a time. Good Night for now and Thank You Chris
