When I created The Popeye Express, anyone who wanted to follow just used their email address to become a follower. Since creating RV Tax Help, one of my clients wanted to become a follower, but is not a user of Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, etc. and could not figure out how to become a follower. I must admit, I can't figure it out either. Does Google now limit followers by this selection, or is there another option?

Hi Honey,

Good question.  Are you sure that people could 'follow' the Popey Express without having a google account?  My understanding is that the Blogger Follow is simply an RSS feed that uses the Blogger dashboard as the feed reader.  You must have a google account in order to have a Blogger dashboard.

A google account can be created with an email other than gmail – it just usually isn't.

They can always Follow you using a different feed reader … see this article: http://wifisavvy.com/2010/04/3…..-want-one/  But – that way, they won't show up in your count of Blog 'Followers'

So, short answer I think is Yes – you must have one of the accounts listed in order to 'Follow'  Notice that one of the possibilities is an 'OpenID' – if they don't want a google account, maybe they could do that?

Hi again Chrs,

Two close friends are followers of The Popeye Express. Neither has ever had one of the "required" accounts. I remember when setting the blog up, that all one had to do to follow was enter their email address. Interesting. Thank you for your time in responding.
