Hi,

I'm having issues with Blogger. This has been going on for so long, months now, and I'm about ready to switch to WordPress.

  1. For weeks I was unable to sign in and access my Dashboard to post new blogs, I was getting e-mails and phone calls from people who thought something was wrong (I'm a solo female – new fulltimer). I tried Chrome, Firefox, and IE, all are up-to-date versions, and I got an error screen with them all.
  2. Norton disallowed my entering my own blog because it was classified as "spam." I had to respond that it was MY blog, and not spam.
  3. I still can't access my Dashboard in Chrome or Internet Explorer.
  4. I can get into my Dashboard in Firefox, but there's a banner across the Dashboard stating, "Your browser is no longer supported by Blogger. Some parts of Blogger will not work and you may experience problems. If you are having problems, try Google Chrome." And then Google Chrome won't allow ANY access. AND they don't tell me which "parts" are not working.
  5. For the last three weeks or more, my posts are not being updated on many of my Followers' Blogrolls.
  6. I am still getting a lot of hits on my posts, but my comments are way down.

Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to list some of the issues I'm having. Of course Blogger has no tech support, and the forum I was directed to didn't have any solutions. I've been blogging for over a year now, and I'm afraid if I can't get into my blog AGAIN – at all, on any of the three browsers – I'll lose all my posts. The only thing I can think of is to move my blog to WordPress. My only concern is that of all the blogs I follow, only two use WordPress. I find that strange, especially since so many people have had issues with Blogger this year. We all complain, but stay with Blogger.

I wondered if you have any thoughts, suggestions, solutions, etc. (I noticed you use Blogger for your blog, but when I was trying to log in and used the wrong ID, it was a WordPress screen that came up. )

Thanks for anything you can think of that might help with Blogger, or… for letting me know that a move to WordPress would be a good solution for me. Embarassed

Barbara

Hey Barb – I just went to my blogger account and went to my Dashboard.  There was not a banner stating my browser was no longer supported.  Do you know what version of Firefox you are using?  I am currently using 3.5.19.  I keep getting notice that 3.6.18 is available, but it does not support a couple of add-ons that I have.  Also, I am still using the "original" blogger.  I have not updated to "Try the updated Blogger interface" link that shows up on my Dashboard.

Hey Barb,

That sounds pretty strange.  I'm wondering if Norton might be a big part of the problem.  Have you tried using someone else's computer to access your blogger account?  Also, I'm wondering if you're using the new Blogger Interface?  If so, try clicking the link to Switch back to the old interface, if not, try using the new Interface.

As for WordPress .. Blogger is just SOO much easier.  Wordpress.com isn't bad … one of the videos shows how to 'backup' your Blogger blog to Wordpress.com.  Then you could just pick up there if you want.  But, you may be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.  Wordpress.com doesn't allow a lot of things .. like google ads for example, or paypal buttons.

Here is an article I found from Blogger about what Browsers they support.  Are you sure your Browser versions are up to date?
